Is it really THAT hard...

…to NOT answer your phone…and/or NOT have loud conversations with your friends….while in the library???

RUDE.  SECURRRITAY.

I miss the days of the librarians who would shush you if you were inappropriately loud.

Prince of Persia Movie…Not sure how to feel about this.  But Jake’s in it so of course its worth watching :)

“Where’s the dagger?”

“You’re welcome to search me for it.  You’ll have to be very thorough.”

Seems like Jake really did learn some things from Brokeback Mountain……

hey scott (and tumblarrr)

tlbb:

i was too.

i came out at 14, went back in the closet at 15 and “came out” as an evangelical christian.  i loved Jesus, not men, for months.  I preached those conservative “family values”.

while i can appreciate the Yes on 1’s reasons for voting like they did, I do not agree with them.  i also do not agree with the direction that our discourse has taken.  I’m frustrated with this outcome, I’m disappointed.  I just want the discourse to turn from anger and frustration to helping those people understand why their vote hurt.  I am disappointed in the “fuck you Yes on 1” attitude.  I think the discourse needs to be more positive, constructive and forward thinking.

I feel that the angry energy we are spending on lashing out could be better spent preparing ourselves to come out to family members and friends and let them know why these issues matter to us.  it could involve talking with pro-lgbt church organizations that are on our side and seeing how we can reach out to evangelical Christians to help spread their own message of love.  we can look at groups like the radical faeries to see positive energy in action.  I feel there are so many more positive ways to move forward than what we have done in these past 18 hours.

Maybe that’s my all-too-optimistic way of thinking about it but I feel that we can try to turn this around much more positively than we have so far.

I don’t want to get long-winded on this one.  I’ve spent WAY too much time in my life trying to juggle my sexuality with Christianity/religion.  My mom raised me in Southern Baptist church (gag).  I’ve finally come to my own conclusions on religion and what not (but that’s not the point here).  Its been my personal experience that trying to work with most of these right-wing evangelicals (nut-jobs if you will) will never get you anywhere.

HOWEVER, I don’t think that’s an excuse to not try.  So, I do agree:  although the outcome was extremely frustrating, and all of our anger is extremely understandable, we could be putting that energy to better use.  Its one set-back (another set-back), but we just gotta keep working harder.  Civil rights have never happened over-night.
